LOVE BITES
Women Up North Housing is continuing its involvement with the LOVE BITES program, having gained funding for the next three years. LOVE BITES is an award winning, national educational violence prevention program delivered to Year 10 students annually at the following high schools across the Northern Rivers: Lismore, Kyogle, Nimbin, Casino, Bonalbo, Woodenbong, Kadina and Richmond River.
The program consists of workshops on healthy and unhealthy relationships, consent in sexual relationships, and where to seek support. There are also creative workshops including hip hop and banner painting. The facilitators are all community workers.
Past LOVE BITES events include workshops on domestic violence and assault in which nearly 700 young people took part, and creative workshops such as rap and banner painting.
This program ensures that young people are introduced to local support services, including Women Up North Housing Inc., Richmond Sexual Assault Service, NORWACS, Northern Kids Care, Youth Connections, Community Health and local Police.
