Enhancing Workforce Responses to Sexual Violence
Women Up North, in partnership with the Family Support Network is proud to announce a new, free, face-to-face, one-day training program for workforces across Northern NSW. The project is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice through the Sexual Violence Project Fund.
The project aims to enhance workforce responses to gendered sexual violence by empowering staff with the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to support women survivors effectively and how to have these challenging conversations with survivors so that their recovery is enhanced.
The evidence-based training program utilises contemporary survivor-focused, feminist-based and trauma-informed approaches.
Training Details
The project will deliver specific training on the latest understanding, prevalence, impacts and gendered nature of sexual violence as per the NSW Sexual Violence Plan.
The training program covers comprehensive content on understanding male violence against women, including domestic violence and all forms of sexual violence.
Sessions are facilitated by experienced trainers in the fields of gendered violence, Survivor recovery and support, and violence prevention.
We expect to offer face-to-face training from July 2024 onwards, with sessions available in both mixed-gender and women-only groups.
Catering costs will be covered by the project, and sessions will run from 9.30 am to 3 pm, with locations covering all seven LGAs in Northern NSW.
